Our next annual conference will take place at the University of Queensland from Wednesday 15 July 2025 to Friday 17 July 2026. Keynotes will be delivered by Janet McLean (University of Auckland) and Irit Samet-Porat (Kings College London). The subject of the book symposium will be Money, Parties and Democracy by Matteo Bonetti (Monash University) and Zim Nwokora (Deakin University).​​

Call for Abstracts
Parallel Sessions
We welcome abstract submissions on any topic in legal theory, broadly conceived. Philosophical or theoretically oriented papers from any field of legal inquiry are welcomed. Papers will be presented in parallel sessions of 3-4 papers per session.
Private Law Theory Stream
The conference will feature a private law theory stream, co-sponsored by the Australian Centre for Private Law, alongside regular parallel sessions. Please indicate if you are applying to the private law theory stream when you make your abstract submission.
PhD Workshop
A PhD workshop will be held on the first day of the conference. The workshop provides PhD students with the opportunity to receive feedback on work in progress on any topic in legal theory in a supportive and collaborative environment. Participants will be expected to submit a full draft two weeks in advance. PhD students who want to participate in the workshop are also welcome to submit an abstract for the parallel sessions or private law theory stream.
Abstract Submission and Deadlines
Please submit a title and abstract of no more than 250 words for your paper along with your name, title and institutional affiliation.
All abstracts must be submitted using this form by the following deadlines:
